Synesthesia
(also spelled synæsthesia, synaesthesia, or synesthesia—plural synesthesiae), from the Greek "syn-" meaning union and "aesthesis" meaning sensation, is a neurological phenomenon in which two or more bodily senses are coupled. For instance, a person may hear colours. The stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.
